Find the best LED treatment system for your horse

Most people arrive with two questions at once: which system suits their horse, and whether to rent or to buy. They are easier to take one at a time, and it usually helps to settle the system first.

What area would you like to start with?

The five systems differ mainly in size and in how they sit on the horse rather than in what they do. Each one carries the same four wavelengths — 660/670 nm and 730 nm in red, 810 nm and 850 nm in infrared — across alternating red and infrared straps, and each measures the same at the strap surface. What changes between them is how much of the horse one session covers, and which shapes the system will follow.

Four diodes per lamp in every system. Total output is the combined rated output of all the diodes in a system, so it rises with size. The measured reading at the strap surface is the same across the range; the figures and the conditions they were taken under are set out further down this page.

Choosing between systems

The Wrap72 and the Wrap108

The Wrap72 and the Wrap108 work the same way; the difference is size and lamp count. At 37 × 37 cm and 72 lamps, the Wrap72 is the smaller of the two and sits well on narrow areas. The Wrap108 measures 40 × 38 cm and carries 108 lamps, so it covers more each time you put it on.

If you have one joint or tendon in mind, the Wrap72 is usually enough. If you expect to move the wrap around the horse and cover several areas, the Wrap108 saves placements and, over a week of daily use, a good deal of time.

A wrap and the Pad

The difference in size is large, and it is worth thinking about in terms of your routine rather than the specification. A session is five to ten minutes per area, and the Pad takes in close to six times the area of a Wrap72, so it needs moving far less often to cover the same ground.

For legs, joints and smaller areas, a wrap is the right shape and the right price. For the topline, for a horse in steady work, or for a yard with several horses to get through, the Pad is the one that will actually get used every day.

Renting and buying

Renting

Renting exists so you can use a system on your own horse, in your own yard, and make up your own mind before buying. We offer it because we are confident in the equipment, not as a way of spreading payments.

When renting suits better

To try a system on your own horse before committing to a purchase.

Through a season of more intense training and competition.

Through a period of rehabilitation.

For the long term, if renting simply suits you better than owning.

A month with one system usually makes it obvious whether it is the right one.

Buying

Buying suits owners who already know how they want to use the equipment, who expect it to be part of the horse's routine for years, or who are outside the EU, where renting is not available. The Sheet is purchase only in every market.

Rental terms

Rental is available within the EU.

The first month is paid to begin a rental.

There is no deposit, no minimum period, and no binding commitment.

Up to three months of rent is credited towards the purchase price if you decide to keep the system.

A rental can be cancelled at any time, and the rent continues to run until the system has been sent back to us.

If the system is sent after the renewal date, that month is charged.

What is the same in every system

Whichever you choose, the specification underneath is identical. Each system carries all four wavelengths across alternating red and infrared straps, and the lamps sit through cut-outs in the fabric, so nothing covers the light. There is no blue light in any system.

Measured output

Irradiance is measured with a TES 1333 solar power meter at 1 cm from the surface. The infrared straps read about 19.8 mW/cm² and the red straps about 10.4 mW/cm², and these readings are the same across all five systems. The dose of about 9 J/cm² over five minutes, and 18 J/cm² over ten, counts both strap types together — 19.8 plus 10.4 gives 30.2 mW/cm² — rather than either type on its own. These are our own measurements, taken under the conditions stated, and they are not independently certified.

Sessions and care

For everyday maintenance, five to ten minutes on each area, daily. When you are treating one particular area, most people run two to three sessions a day, leaving at least ninety minutes between them. The outer material is wiped clean by hand, and nothing should ever be placed over a system while it is in use.

Warranty, servicing and delivery

Every system is built in our own workshop in Uddevalla and carries a four-year worldwide warranty on identical terms, including damage caused by a horse standing on the equipment. Batteries are covered for one year. Servicing is done in-house. Shipping within the EU is free, and unused returns are free within 14 days. Delivery takes one to three days to Sweden, one to four days to Denmark and Germany, and two to five days elsewhere in the EU.

If you would like a second opinion

Tell us about the horse, the area you have in mind, and how you expect to use the system day to day, and we will tell you honestly which one we would choose. Write to info@ledbycheval.com or send a message on WhatsApp.
