User manual for the LED by Cheval light therapy system
Version: 2023V2.0
Before using your LED by Cheval light therapy system for the first time, please read the information in this user manual to avoid missing anything important. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to contact us.
Important!
- Never store the battery at room temperature below 5° to prevent the battery from losing power.
- Don’t bend the system across the lights. Bending the system can cause the lights or the connections to break.
- Use only the battery and charger associated with your specific system.
- Ensure to attach the system properly to the horse so it doesn’t fall off.
- Never leave the horse unattended during the treatment.
- Always turn the system off after every five minutes of treatment. Increasing the treatment time or not turning off the system between the treatments can cause the lights to overheat and break. Therefore always be aware of the temperature, never layer anything on top of the system (for. ex., a blanket), and never use the system in direct sunlight or at too high temperatures.
Before first use
- Take the battery out of the battery pack, and place it in the pocket on the system.
- If your battery model has a switch, connect it to the battery.
- Attach the system’s power cable to the battery.
- The system is ready to be used.
How to charge the battery
- Disconnect the power cable.
- Take the battery out of the system’s pocket.
- Connect the charger to the battery. Depending on your specific battery model, you might need to turn the battery ON during charging. Otherwise, it will not charge.
- The battery will indicate when it’s fully charged.
How to use the system
- You can use the system every day, up to three times per day and area. The treatment time is 5 min per area.
- Make sure the area on the horse is dry and clean. If needed, dry with a towel first. If the fur is wet, the water can absorb the waves and decrease the effect of the treatment.
- Attach the system to the horse and turn the battery ON.
- Let the system be on for 5 min. Don’t leave the horse unattended during the treatment.
- After the treatment time, turn the battery off before you move the system or take it off the horse.
How to clean the system
All materials are easy to clean. Use a slightly damp cloth or sponge to wipe off the fabrics and the lights.
To remove any hair and fur, use a lint roller.
On the Wrap108 the outer cover is machine washable at 40° (no dryer). Don’t wash the lights in the machine.
Treatment plans
Here are examples of different treatment plans. Remember that these are only examples; every horse and condition is different, and the treatment plan may differ. You are always welcome to contact us if you have any questions.
! In case of acute injury or trauma, always consult a veterinarian firsthand.
Pre-training
Treatment prior training gives your horse the best conditions to perform by increasing blood circulation, reducing tension or stiffness, improving movability, and lowering the risk of injuries and inflammations.
The treatment eases your horse’s recovery by reducing muscle acidosis and lowering the risk of overstrain and muscle soreness.
5 min per area before training (possible to the increase the treatment time on the bigger muscle groups).
On rest days/ ”SPA-days”/rehabilitation
Treatment on rest days, spa days, or during rehabilitation will help your horse stay sound by increasing blood circulation and preventing swelling and stiffness.
5 min per area.
Tendon injury
Start the treatment as early as possible to improve the recovery process.
5 min 2-3 times a day until the injury is healed and after that, once per day to prevent the injury from occurring again.
Arthritis (joint inflammation)
The light therapy system works by using low-level laser energy to stimulate healing and reduce inflammation in the affected joint. Applying laser energy encourages the production of cellular energy (ATP), increases blood flow, and reduces inflammation – scientifically proven.
5 min 2-3 times a day until the inflammation is gone.
Muscle inflammation
The treatment effectively stops the inflammatory process and reduces inflammatory cells.
5 min 2-3 times a day until the inflammation is gone.
Wounds
The treatment speeds up the healing process and prevents infections.
5 min three times within 24 hours, thereafter once a day.
Mud-fever
Work against mud-fever and prevent spreading of bacterias. Combine with recommended products for the best result.
5 min once a day. Follow with recommended ointment. Wash every third day with recommended shampoo.
Back pain and kissing spines
The treatment will prevent and treat pain and stiffness in the back. It’s also a beneficial treatment for horses with kissing spines.
5 min once a day, especially before any training.
Swollen morning legs
Swollen legs in the morning are often caused by insufficient blood flow. The treatment will increase blood circulation and prevent the legs from swelling.
5 min once a day.
Troubleshoot
The system consists of both infrared and red lights. Infrared light is outside the visible spectrum, so we can’t see it – even if it’s on.
All lights are connected in the system, which means that if one lamp breaks, all the following will turn off. This way, you can ensure that all lamps work, even if you can’t see the infrared light.
Interesting fact: Infrared light has longer wavelengths than, for example, red light. Even if we see red light as stronger than infrared, the infrared light reaches further through the body.
